How can I earn money from Google Adsense
This article explains how website owners can earn money from Google Adsense. Google Adsense is a subsidary program of Google.com.
The program pays website owners aka publishers to serve advertisements on their websites. Certain terms and conditions apply to sites that are accepted into the program. These include the type and nature of website content, traffic source, speed, and website optimization. Links to the program policies are in the resource list at the end of this post.
Many publishers recommend Adsense as an ideal website monetization method since they only need to focus on producing content targeted to their specific audience once the ads are installed.
How does Google AdSense work?
Display advertising
AdSense uses display advertising to show various types of graphic ads from businesses. Since prices paid by the advertisers vary, income paid out per ad would also vary.
These advertisements are shown on social media, websites, or apps. Types of graphic media include banners, audio, video, text, images, and flash (Wikipedia, 2021).
Adsense for search
AdSense for search is a form of display advertising in which code is added to generate a search box on the publisher’s site. When a visitor enters a search term or query into this search box, Google will display advertisements from various related businesses. Publishers get paid only when visitors click on these ads (Google. com, 2021)

Adsense for content
AdSense for content is most commonly used. Publishers add a bit of code to their website. This allows Google to show ads on the site in various places. These ads are usually the highest paying and relevant to the content and visitor preferences (Google.com, 2021).
Note that it is against Google’s policies to use Adsense for Search and Adsense for Content on the same website simultaneously.
Auto ads
Google’s Auto Ads feature makes it very easy for website publishers to participate in the advertisement program. All that one needs to do is to add a small piece of code to the website. Google will then automatically place various formats of contextual ads in locations that are optimized for the site and visitors.
Is Google AdSense free?
Yes. Website owners, defined as Publishers in the industry, do not need to pay in order to serve advertisements on their websites.
How do I start Google AdSense?
Publishers need a Google account, phone number, and postal address in order to register. Website owners with any existing Google account can use their login details to register. Read more at this link on how to open an account.
Google Adsense payment
What proportion of revenue does Google payout to publishers
The proportion of payouts to publishers are consistent and the same regardless of location. Revenue share varies depending on the income model:
– Publishers are paid 68% of the revenue earned from AdSense for content.
– Publishers are paid 51% of the revenue earned from For AdSense for search (Google.com, 2021)/
How much does AdSense pay per 1000 views?
Adsense uses four advertisement models. These are:
– CPC (cost per click).
– CPM (cost per 1000 impressions). Advertisers pay per 1000 times that their ad appears.
– Active view CPM (cost per 1000 ‘viewable’ impressions). Advertisers pay when at least 50% of the ad is displayed on-screen for at least one second.
– CPE (cost per engagement).
RPM or (revenue per 1000 impressions). This is the amount of revenue that the publisher generates per 1000 ad impressions. It is calculated by dividing estimated earnings by the number of ad impressions you received, then multiplying by 1000.
RPM = Revenue generated/total ad impressions *1000 (AdPushUp, 2019, Google.com, 2021).
If you earned an estimated $0.15 from 25 page views, then your page RPM would equal ($0.15 / 25) * 1000, or $6.00.
If you earned an estimated $180 from 45,000 ad impressions, your ad RPM would equal ($180 / 45,000) * 1000, or $4.00.
